Formed in 2007, Ferriswheel is the instrumental project of Montreal's pianist Mathieu Charbonneau (Timber Timbre, Torngat, The Luyas) and guitarist Simon Trottier (Timber Timbre).
Mostly composed for acoustic guitar and piano, the duo is joined on the record by a French Horn, a Double-Bass, a Violin, a Bass Clarinet and a Drumkit. The result is a beautiful blend of musical genres hinting classical piano, folk fingerstyle guitar and indie rock. Their work is influenced in part by John Fahey, Gonzales, Tin Hat trio and John Zorn's Bar Kokhba. In the live shows, the duet is now extended to a quartet, quintet or sextet with Philippe Charbonneau on Double-Bass, Olivier Fairfield on Drums, Pietro Amato on French Horn and Joshua Zubot on Violins.
